The Fall of the Other Unholy Empire

The fog has apparently lifted on American's consciousness. A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows that 57% of Americans polled believed they were deliberately misled by the Bush Administration into the War in Iraq. I've always said that once you hit Americans in their wallet, they wake up. The rise in gas prices did the trick, I believe. Americans started to watch the news and the newspapers a little more closely, and once they did, noticed a bogus war and corruption all the way to the top. Given yesterday's voting trend and the incredibly low approval numbers, the 2006 election is being handed to the Democrats. And given the recent Zogby poll, the Democratic majority will have a task at hand. Zogby is reporting that 51% polled want Bush impeached if he misled the country into the Iraq War.

As for the NBC/WSJ poll, approval for Bush's handling of the economy (34%), foreign policy (35%), terrorism (39%), and Iraq (32%) have all hit rock bottom. And one factor helping this snowball accelerate down the mountain is ol' Scooter- 79% believe the indictment of Vice President Cheney's former chief of staff, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, is a serious matter.

In addition, 58% are less confident the war will come to a successful conclusion, and 57% say the United States should reduce the number of U.S. troops there. Democratic pollster Jay Campbell of Hart Research notes that Americans are paying attention to this CIA leak investigation. “They think there is something real here,” he says. “This is a really big deal.”

One factor I believe to be the most embarrassing is Bush's absence at Rosa Park's funeral. It has now been reported that Bush instead had lunch and dinner with Prince Charles for fear he would have been jeered at the funeral. What does that say about this administration? The President of the United States of America, the beacon of freedom and democracy, cannot attend the funeral of a civil rights pioneer. This administration has literally destroyed our country, it's reputation, it's poor, it's sick, it's economy, and it's very fabric.

Bush, No Bueno

Looks like Bush's approval rating with South American's is the same as the North American's. More than 25,000 have been protesting Dubya since he arrived for the Summit of the Americas. MSNBC reports that local police have 'increased security at the Sheraton Hotel where President George W. Bush was staying, although the president was not at his hotel as the protests raged. So far, the protests had not reached the area where the hotel was.' Oh my God, that is tragic. Bush is staying at a Sheraton! Now Bush really will fire his entire cabinet. Oh, the humanity.

The protesters, chanting “Get out Bush!” and "Fascist Bush! You are the terrorist!" protested the summit which focuses on free trade, immigration and job creation. The protesters included Bolivian presidential hopeful Evo Morales and soccer great Diego Maradona, who donned a T-shirt accusing Bush of war crimes. Later, they took to the streets, heading toward a stadium where Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez made a speech before joining the Summit of the Americas.

Chavez arrived early Friday, saying he was “inspired” by the protesters, who also oppose the U.S.-led negotiations to form a Free Trade Area of the Americas stretching from Alaska to Argentina. One marcher, Canadian steelworker Dennis Matteau, said free trade must be stopped. “We have NAFTA, so we know about free trade deals,” he said. “They are not good for workers.”

Leaders attending the two-day summit agreed ahead of time to focus on creating jobs and reducing poverty. In recent days, however, attention has shifted to the free trade issue and sparring between the United States and Chavez, a leftist whose government has used his country’s vast oil wealth on social programs for the poor.
Wow, what a concept...use your country's wealth to help the poor. That's a Christian principle, but Bush only plays one on TV.

FEMA Criminal, Fashion God

Congress released the emails of former FEMA head Michael Brown, who has got to be one of the biggest idiots to have ever walked the earth. While Americans were drowning, starving, suffering heat stroke, and more importantly waiting for FEMA's assistance, this dolt was emailing his lunch order for Sonic, asking colleagues what they thought of his wardrobe. ABC News reported that "the e-mails show that Brown, who had been planning to step down from his post when the storm hit, was preoccupied with his image on television even as one of the first FEMA officials to arrive in New Orleans, Marty Bahamonde, was reporting a crisis situation of increasing chaos to FEMA officials.

"My eyes must certainly be deceiving me. You look fabulous and I'm not talking the makeup," writes Cindy Taylor, FEMA's deputy director of public affairs to Brown on 7:10 a.m. local time on Aug. 29. "I got it at Nordstroms," Brown writes back. "Are you proud of me? Can I quit now? Can I go home?" An hour later, Brown adds: "If you'll look at my lovely FEMA attire, you'll really vomit. I am a fashion god."
In another disgustingly careless email, Brown's aide, Sharon Worthy, writes: "in this crises and on TV you just need to look more hardworking … ROLL UP THE SLEEVES!" Worthy wrote, noting that even President Bush "rolled his sleeves to just below the elbow."

The e-mails "depict a leader who seemed overwhelmed and rarely made key decisions," said U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon, D-La. He criticized Brown for addressing "superficial subjects such as Mr. Brown's appearance or reputation rather than the pressing response needs of Louisiana and Mississippi." And when Brown grew tired of emailing he asked if someone could rescue HIM, and then asked 'Can I quit now?'.

This among many other recent developments exposes the complete and utter neglect of this country at the hands of this corrupt White House. Why would any president appoint someone who was fired from a horse association to be the HEAD of the Federal Emergency Management Agency? This administration has no interest in saving or protecting Americans from disasters or terrorism. Especially if those Americans have darker skin, and no money to donate to the GOP. Did anyone notice that Clinton was attending the memorial service for civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks, while Bush was hosting the Prince of Wales? That says it all.
